Our Story
CG Charitable Fund was established in 2004 by Charles and Gloria Pope — the "CG" in our name. Their founding vision was straightforward and enduring: to help people experiencing poverty gain the tools and opportunities they need to become self-sufficient and build better futures.
Over two decades, that vision has sharpened into a focused educational mission. Recognizing education as the most reliable lever for lasting change, the foundation now directs all of its grantmaking toward organizations that expand access to quality education in Central America and East Africa.
Today, CG Charitable Fund has deployed over $60 million across more than 50 nonprofits in 17 countries — all in service of that original founding purpose.
The Team
A small, dedicated team guided by the Pope family's founding vision.
Son of founders Charles and Gloria Pope. Christopher holds a BA in Communications from Brigham Young University and an MA in Education Policy from Stanford University. His background includes teaching in migrant communities and roles in corporate finance. He joined CG Charitable full-time in 2021.
Joined May 2024. A BYU graduate with expertise in Middle Eastern Studies and Arabic, Kennedy brings international experience from Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, Thailand, Jordan, Kenya, and Uganda. She is fluent in Arabic and Thai.
Joined May 2025. Holds an MPA from Brigham Young University. Originally from the Dominican Republic and bilingual in English and Spanish, Alondra's professional background includes legal clinics for asylum seekers and programs supporting human trafficking victims.
Joined April 2025. A BYU Economics graduate who previously worked in the Economics Department and led the Economics Student Association. Jenny is a Spanish speaker with study abroad experience in Spain.
