Our Process
CG Charitable Fund takes a proactive, relationship-driven approach to grantmaking. We carefully select a small number of organizations each year whose work strongly aligns with our mission and values.
Our selection process is thorough and time-intensive. We conduct comprehensive due diligence before committing to any partnership — which means only a limited number of organizations are selected each year. We value depth over breadth.
Organizations that believe their work aligns with our focus areas are welcome to submit an initial inquiry form. Those that meet our preliminary criteria may be invited to advance to a full due-diligence review.
CG Charitable does not solicit donations or accept unsolicited grant proposals. This inquiry process is the appropriate first step for organizations interested in connecting with us.
Mission alignment — clear focus on education as a driver of self-reliance
Local embeddedness — organizations rooted in the communities they serve
Evidence of impact — demonstrated results or strong program theory
Organizational capacity — leadership and systems to steward grants well
Geographic fit — primarily Central America or East Africa

Our team reviews all inquiries to assess alignment with our mission, geographic focus, and current priorities. This step is not a guarantee of further engagement.
Organizations that pass the preliminary review are invited into a comprehensive due-diligence phase. This is a thorough, time-intensive process — and it means we are seriously considering a partnership.
After due diligence, a final grant decision is made. Selected organizations receive multi-year support and enter an ongoing partnership relationship with the foundation.
